1. You will choose the people whom you wish to work with. Must be in groups of
three or four.
2. You will choose whether you are doing a radio show, iMovie or PowerPoint.
3. You will decide as a group which band or performer you are going to
represent.
4. You will figure out a creative way to persuade your classmates (fellow
competitors and entertainment committee members) that your band is the best
choice to play at Live Earth on 8/8/08.
5. If you are creating a radio show: you will decide which roles each member of the
group will be responsible for.
Roles are: Script writer. Script writer is the person who does the majority
of the writing of what you will be saying during your radio show. Can be an
outline, but must have copies for each member of the group during the
recording process.
Researcher. Researcher is the person who answers all of the
required questions and works closely with the script writer to help them
integrate that information into the radio show and presentation. Student
will also be responsible for the gathering of all materials, including
but not limited to: microphones, laptops and a room that is quiet enough to
record.
Producer and Editor. This person is in charge of the technology. He or
she must be the keeper of the radio show. Student will be doing
the editing and finishing of the radio show and will be responsible for
turning the copy of it to me on a disk, flash drive or uploaded to the wiki.
Works closely with the Dj to make sure that everything is going as planned.
Will also help Researcher with the gathering of music for the show.
Dj and Director. Student will be the Dj for the radio show and be
the voice of the show. You will be presenting the project to the class and
introducing group members, radio show title and band or performer.
If you are creating an iMovie: You
will decide which roles each member of the group will be responsible for.
Script Writer. Script writer is the person who does the majority
of the writing of what you will be acting and speaking while you are filming.
Can be an outline, but must have copies for each member of the group during
the filming process. Should have basic stage directions (what the actors are
'doing') and auditory directions (in general, what the actors are 'saying' or
talking about).
Researcher. Researcher is the person who answers all of the
required questions and works closely with the script writer to help them
integrate that information into film and presentation. Student will be
responsible for gathering all materials for filming, including but not
limited to: cameras, props, space, costumes and laptops to edit.
Cinematographer. Student is responsible for all the filming and
editing of the movie. Must turn film into DVD or put on a flash drive and
given to me.
Actor and Presenter. Student is responsible for playing the lead acting
role (if not more than one role) in the film. The student is the
person who presents the information and does the majority of teaching it to
the class if they have a supplement pre or post movie. You will introduce
group members, movie title and band or performer.
If you are creating a PowerPoint: You will
decide which roles each member of the group will be responsible for.
Slide Creator. Student will be the one who does creating of the
PowerPoint. You will have to integrate the information and pictures to create
the slideshow.
Researcher. Researcher is the
person who answers all of the required questions and works closely with the
slide creator to help them integrate that information into film and
presentation. Student will be responsible for gathering all materials for
PowerPoint and presentation, including but not limited to: Pictures,
websites, songs, teaching materials and all activity materials.
Presenter. Student will be responsible for presenting the PowerPoint
to the class. PowerPoint is a supplement for an auditory presentation. You
will be responsible for giving that presentation. You must introduce the
members of your group, title of PowerPoint and band or performer.
Activity Leader. You have chosen to do a PowerPoint. You must do
something that gets all of the Committee Members (your classmates) involved
in the presentation. Must be fun and entertaining. Examples: a game, an art
project or a web activity. Must be related to presentation/band/environmental
effort or definition of terms. You will be responsible for having the
materials ready to go and executing the activity.
6. Your presentation and/or media must include:
A. Five simple ways that anyone can do to lessen their impact on the
environment.
B. Three reasons why your company thinks it is important to improve and
lessen their impact on the environment.
C. Definitions of global warming, alternative energy, fossil fuels, energy
consumption and why it is important for people to know about these issues.
D. What exactly your band or performer is doing to lessen their impact on the
environment and raise awareness of climate change and energy consumption.
E. Why the Al Gore and the Entertainment Committee should choose your band or
performer to play at Live Earth.
7. You will have two class periods and three lab periods to complete this
presentation. It will be due three weeks from the assigned date. All other
work must be done on your own, during study halls or after school.
